Clear Overhead and Prepare For Whats Next
Ceiling removal comes in a few forms. T-bar (drop ceiling) grids come out panel by panel, then the wires and track that hold the grid to the structure above. Drywall and plaster ceilings are heavier work, everything comes down, and older plaster in particular makes serious dust and debris. Above any ceiling you'll usually find lighting, HVAC ducting, and wiring, so the sequence matters: what's staying gets protected, what's going gets disconnected first.
DemoRex removes T-bar grids, drywall ceilings, plaster ceilings from homes and commercial spaces throughout the Central Valley. We work around the fixtures and mechanicals that stay, contain the dust and drop debris in a controlled way, and haul everything off when we're done. You're left with clean, open structure overhead ready for a new ceiling, exposed industrial look, or the next phase of the remodel.

Ceiling and T bar Demolition
Ceiling demolition is a common step in remodels, water damage repairs, and commercial tenant improvements. DemoRex handles every type, residential and commercial. On the residential side, we remove drywall ceilings, plaster and lath in older homes, popcorn and other textured ceilings, glued acoustic tiles, and wood plank or tongue-and-groove ceilings. Ceilings can be taken down all the way to the joists, and any lighting, ceiling fans, or electrical fixtures can be removed right along with the ceiling.
One important note on older homes: popcorn and textured ceilings from before the 1980s can contain asbestos. DemoRex does not perform asbestos abatement. Abatement must be completed by a licensed third-party abatement company before demolition can begin. Once the material is cleared or abated, we take it from there.
On the commercial side, we specialize in T-bar and suspended ceiling removal. The full grid comes out. Tiles, T-bar framing, and the suspension wiring, along with fluorescent and flood lighting, vents, and electrical fixtures. If your project calls for it, we can also remove and haul out the ducting above the ceiling, and anything else in the ceiling space above the T-bar, including old insulation and abandoned materials, gets cleared and hauled away. The result is a clean, open space taken down to the structure, ready for your remodel or build-out.
Every ceiling job includes complete haul-out of drywall, tiles, grid, insulation, fixtures, and debris all leave with us. We contain the dust, protect the space below the work, and leave the area clean and ready for the next phase of your project.

Taken Down To the Structure
Most people never see what's above their ceiling until it comes down. In a home, that means exposed joists and a clear look at the wiring, plumbing, and framing that's been hiding up there, which is exactly what your contractor needs to see for the next phase. In a commercial space, pulling the T-bar reveals the deck, ducting, and everything the drop ceiling was covering, often adding height and the possibility of space you didn't know it had.
That first look also answers questions: what shape the structure is in, where the utilities actually run, and what your remodel is really working with. A clean tear-out doesn't just remove the old ceiling, it gives you an honest starting point. We take it down, haul it out, and leave you looking at exactly what you're building on.
