Removing it means breaking the cement free, cutting and pulling the lath, and stripping the paper underneath, all without chewing up the sheathing or framing behind it. It's loud, dusty, heavy work: a typical home carries several tons of stucco on its walls. What the job reveals matters too. Once the stucco is off, any hidden moisture damage or dry rot in the wall is out in the open, where it can be fixed before the new siding or stucco goes on.
